Idea of the Week: Build A Tutorial Website
Today’s story is about a website that teaches people how to solve a Rubik’s Cube and makes thousands of dollars a month doing it.
It’s called Ruwix.com, and if you’ve ever Googled “how to solve a Rubik’s cube”,
you’ve probably already visited it without realizing. It’s a simple website, no flashy design, no login, no paid course.
Just step-by-step guides, colorful diagrams, and a few banner ads.
That’s it.
The site was started by a Rubik’s Cube enthusiast over a decade ago.
He loved puzzles and wanted a place where beginners could learn to solve the cube in under 10 minutes.
So he wrote tutorials. Then added images. Then added animations.
And before he knew it, his little hobby site was ranking #1 for keywords like:
“how to solve a Rubik’s cube”
“Rubik’s cube algorithms”
“solve 3x3 cube easy method”
These keywords get millions of searches every month.
And guess who Google shows first?
Yep, Ruwix. Now let’s talk about the business side.
The website gets an estimated 4–5 million visitors per month (SimilarWeb, 2024).
He monetizes with Google AdSense and affiliate links (for cubes and puzzle accessories).
Assuming even a modest $5 RPM (revenue per thousand views), that’s $20,000–$25,000/month in ad revenue.
From free traffic. From teaching people how to solve a toy.
Here’s why I find this story fascinating:
It’s not a “startup.”
It’s not an app.
It’s not even a product.
It’s just information, delivered simply.
No constant content churn.
No videos.
No influencer marketing.
The content was written once, and it keeps paying forever.
This is what I call an evergreen skill website.
Find something that:
People always want to learn
Doesn’t change often
Has search volume
Is easy to explain
Then teach it better than everyone else.
Rubik’s cubes. Guitar chords. Chess openings. Basic Excel formulas.
Once your tutorials ranks, you’ll get free traffic for years.
That’s your alley dispatch for the week. Next one drops soon.
